| While all my blades are designed as tools first, some obviously go a bit further than that. The blades listed here fall into that general area. Some are prototypes of more to come, some are explorations of areas I wanted to explore (and maybe want to forget about!), and some are "I wonder if....". Due to the labor involved, these are fairly expensive blades but worth it. I also have return customers, so I have added their purchases to this page. |
There are times that everything goes well. This was one of them. A composite O1-pure nickel twist Damascus body of three bars with an O1 edge bar. The twist was sufficiently even to make the transition between bars virtually vanish. The grip was mahogany and nickel silver. It's gone but not forgotten. | ![]() |

"Nikolai Stefanovitch Compositov IV" = Nambam 2 - copper habaki, cast silver pommel & handle throat ring with dragon menuki and bahia grass seed embroidery, nickel silver guard with vine file pattern, blade spine with same, sheath with silver chape and throat ring with dragon menuki. This is a prize winning blade and is named as it is since it is a nickel-1095 twist composite of 4 bars with an O1 edge bar - and was made by me (Stephen=Stefan). This is one FANCY blade! | ![]() |
"Bizen" = Nambam 2 - cast silver habaki & handle throat ring, simple mokume pommel, nickel silver guard with diagonal file pattern, wood sheath. The general shape and slimness reminds me of a friend's Bizen katana, hence the name "Bizen". | ![]() |

It has a random-pattern damascus blades* with sterling silver fittings. The handles are ziricote and the each contains a replical of Japanese dragon menuki. These blades are unique due to the techniques used to fit wood to fittings and due to the inlays. Dimesions are blade length of 4.5" with handle approximately 5" in length. | ![]() |
