NamBam Blades
The blades shown here are part of the NamBam II series - like the first series, these are designed to disassemble so as to allow maintenance, re-polishing, potentially refitting, and so the customer has something to play with....

One of the major departures from the NamBam I series is the use of a terminal lock screw. When using a lateral lock screw, shims and significant side loading may be needed to prevent rattles and that may represent an opportunity to distort the screw. By using a terminal screw, the hilt is guaranteed to lock down and eliminate any looseness. The terminal screw or bolt is a cap screw (typically 1/4 x 20 or 10x32) locked into one end of a connector nut. The other end of the connector nut screws down onto a bolt section welded to the tang or attached to a sabot that is pinned to the tang. Since the guard and habaki must slide off the tang, the permanently attached bolt section is usually ground flat and is therefore weaker than a bolt with an unaltered cross-section (thus the inherent advantage of a sabot).
