63 Rockwell C as quenched
Advantages:
This is a wonderful tool steel - high resistance to warpage, very tough, and
typically used in leaf springs, hence it adds flexibility.

Acquired from the usual steel suppliers. Typically, a 1.5" x
1/4" thick bar x 22' is under $75, which means that a normal knife blank runs
maybe $3..$5. There is little motivation to recycle old leaf springs to get
