This is a random-pattern damascus blades with mild steel, hot blue guards. The pommel is a forged eagle head usable as a bottle opener (but watch your fingers!). It has an O1 tool steel strip welded onto the body as a cutting edge. The damascus steel used in these knives is composed approximately 500 layers of 01,L6, and 5160 tool steels, 203E mild steel and wrought iron with a total carbon content in excess of 70 points. The head-treatment consisted of a triple heat-cycle followed by a banite (molten salt at 475F) quench and tempering at 350F. The spines and ricassos have been flame-softened. |
